Adam Małysz is back in the game!

Today, the top spot was occupied by Adam Małysz, who won his 25. World Cup title in Harrachov, Czech Republic. With his two amazing jumps, he hold off the present World Cup leader Janne Ahonen from taking his fifth victory on the trot.

The weather conditions in Harrachov were very favourable for ski jumpers and the competition was marked by impressive efforts of many jumpers. In the first round, Switzerland's Simon Ammann was the first who approched closely the distance of 140 metres. His jump of 139,5 metres and very good marks from the judges gave him the lead and an advantage of 10 points over Norway's Lars Bystoel.

Everything changed after the breathtaking jump from Adam Małysz. Małysz, floating 143 metres, set a new hill record and took the lead. Roar Ljoekelsoey was quite close to Małysz's result: his effort of 140,5 metres saw him into second place. Jakub Janda, who has been earmarked as the one who could bring Ahonen's supremacy to an end and win in front of his home crowd, managed to jump only 136,5 metres and finished at 6. place. Janne Ahonen was last to jump in the first round, but his 141 metre-effort wasn't a sufficient retort for Adam Małysz. The World Cup leader was forced to settle for 3. place.

The second round was marked by an amazing 140-metre-jump by a 19-year-old Japanese Daiki Ito, which stretched his lead for a long time. The one who jumped farthest was Germany's Georg Spaeth. His 141 metres guaranteed him a place on the podium. A 137-metre-effort by Jakub Janda probably disappointed those who were anxious to see him winning, but confirmed his good shape which is still progressing.

Janne Ahonen's 136,5 metres gave him temporarily the lead. When Roar Ljoekelsoey failed in his second attempt with a feeble effort of 133,5 metres, it was left to Adam Małysz to hold his nerves and get his first victory after Lahti 2003. And so he did, floating 136 metres, which was enough to win with an advantage of 5.2 points over the Finn and 5.4 points over Georg Spaeth.

After the prize-giving ceremony, Adam Małysz said that his victory is a big merit of his loyal Polish fans, who supported him even when his shape didn't let him achieve impressive results.
