With two excellent jumps of 130,5 and 128 metres, Matti Hautamaeki won on Wednesday the World Cup event in his hometown, Kuopio. Roar Ljoekelsoey was second, while Adam Małysz and Jakub Janda finished both in third place, with an identical note of 256.9 points.

Matti Hautamaeki became a leader already after the first round, when he jumped 130,5 metres and overtook Adam Małysz. The Pole had floated 0,5 metre further, but lost marks for technique. The second-round attempt from Hautamaeki didn't leave any doubts: the Finn soared to a huge 128 metres (the longest jump of the second round) and got excellent marks from the judges, which gave him a total of 270.3 points.

After a good jump in the final (126,5 metres), Roar Ljoekelsoey moved from fifth to second place in the standings. Adam Małysz didn't manage to repeat his first-round effort in the second round. His 124,5 metres saw him into third place together with Jakub Janda (128,5 and 124,5 metres).

A poor performance from Janne Ahonen didn't let him assure his World Cup crown in Kuopio. With two jumps of 125,5 and 119 metres, he took 12th place. Ahonen lost not only with Hautamaeki, but with his other compatriot Risto Jussilainen, who finished in 6th place after Norway's Bjoern Einar Romoeren. However, everybody knows that it's just a matter of time when Ahonen will have the World Cup overall title in his hands.
